Habitat for Humanity Sarasota recently announced results of its efforts from the previous year, noting 11 homes under construction and five mortgage closings, with work from 896 volunteers who provided 25,587 volunteer hours, helping reduce construction costs by 30 percent. The nonprofit also completed 46,280 transactions through its ReStore outlet, with a total of just over $2 million in sales.

The organization also recently named a new board chair, John Peshkin, founder and managing partner at Vanguard Land, a real estate investment group, and three new board members: former Sarasota County Commissioner Carolyn Mason; Bonnie Dezii, assistant vice president of claims for the Florida region at FCCI Insurance Group; and Michael Bruno, a realtor with Michael Saunders & Company.
